We’re ready to let you in on our secret. It’s been months and months in the making.
We’re rebranding and renaming Pop and Banter to…
You may be wondering why we would even consider changing our name. Good question! We’re going to share with you the evolution of Pop and Banter over the last 2+ years.
Pop and Banter was started as a lifestyle blog in January 2015, though the idea started months before that. Tiffany and I were having such interesting discussions at the office – two women talking about how they are making things work juggling all.the.things, and we had an idea. What if we could let people into our dialogue, where we often shared two different opinions (hence the Banter in our name), and opened ourselves up to hearing other perspectives from women like us? We knew we didn’t have all the answers. We totally aren’t the experts! But, we truly believed we could learn from each other. We wanted to do this by sharing with you topics that were popping in our life. And thus, Pop and Banter was born.
We enjoyed writing about a diverse set of topics, like the new workout we tried, motivational stories, recipes or a round up of our favorite links/products. As the months went on though, something started to feel off. It’s hard to explain exactly, but we all know the feeling – something wasn’t clicking anymore and we realized we needed to make a change. We cut back on the content we were producing, limited the topics we were exploring, and started to think bigger about how we could get across our opinions and personalities to connect with you, our audience.
One of our bigger ideas was around banter – how could we better let you into our conversations? Well, how about listening to them?! And so, The Pop and Banter Podcast was born, and we love podcasting. We found it to be a better format for us. But, the name didn’t fit us anymore. People who didn’t know us already thought we were a podcast about pop culture, which we weren’t and still aren’t. We also wanted to discuss more serious topics on and off the podcast like goal setting, handling challenges at work, and making career changes.
This next step required some introspection about what our values were and where we here headed. We decided now was the time to take the leap and rename ourselves. We hired Wellstruck to help us with branding. Sneak peeks of our work in progress are in the images in this post.
What’s in a name?
After MUCH deliberation we landed on the name She Reaches. We are focused on women that are always reaching – for their next career step, for their dreams. To push themselves to know more, be more, try more and do more for others. We’re always learning and trying to step outside our comfort zones.
While we are not yet ready to make the full name shift (likely will be early March), we wanted to let you in to what’s going on behind the scenes. We hope this also gives context to the use of She Reaches in some of our recent communication, such as for the goal setting email challenge or for the She Reaches Collective.
