One of my very favorite things to do is bake. I can’t remember how far back this interest goes, but I guess that points to it being a consistent interest. I even thought that I would open my own bakery. I took a semi-professional pastry course which required 4 hours of class one day a week after work. While I loved learning all the real techniques, after that I decided that I really just wanted it to be a hobby so that I could do it only when I wanted to do it and bake what I wanted to bake.
Because this is such a love of mine, I’ve been excited to include my daughters early in helping to bake things. P would like to be a baker when she grows up (the latest at age 4) and J has only started to be able to even stand on a chair to watch. Regardless, I get so much joy out of sharing one of my hobbies with them.
We’ve been doing lots of Fall baking so I thought I’d share one of our family recipes for pumpkin bread that came from my grandmother.
Do you have any hobbies you share with your kids or look forward to sharing with them?
