As we mention in our About Us page, we both currently work outside the home in the digital space. We both work in casual business environments (no suits!), where we are mainly in the office and are occasionally out meeting with clients. With the summer fast approaching, it is often tricky to find an outfit that is able to address both the outdoor heat and the heavily air conditioned indoors. So, we’ve pulled together our secrets for a flexible summer office wardrobe.
First up, is the dress.
Dresses: We love dresses for the summer! Becca’s favorite is the wrap dress as they are super comfortable and are generally client meeting appropriate. Tiffany’s favorite is a patterned dress with an A-line or full skirt since that is what is most flattering for her shape. Bonus in that it does not require any matching of pieces since it’s one piece and you’re done!
Shoes: Depending on what is planned for a work day, we either pair a dress with wedges or flats. One of the many reasons why we love wearing dresses to work is because you can either dress it up with heels or keep it more casual with flats.
Layering: A jean jacket is perfect to keep you warm in the cold A/C! It also keeps your outfit a bit more casual when you are not in a meeting. You can swap that out for a blazer on top for an important meeting.
And now, for a few looks with pants.
Shirts: For work, it’s best to wear something not too tight (or revealing…duh). Luckily, these beautiful flowy tops are totally in style right now!
Pants: Obviously, you need a pair of black pants. They are a staple in an office environment. For the summer, we also like wearing something more colorful like these cropped blue pants. Cropped or ankle length pants are a great switch to usher in the warm weather.
Accessories: A scarf is Becca’s favorite accessory all year round! You can pair a colorful scarf with solid colored and a neutral top like the beige one above so that the scarf stands out. Closed toe wedges are also perfect for all seasons. Having both an open toe pair and a closed toe pair of wedges give you flexibility to dress up or dress down these options. Also, some of us (cough cough, Becca & Tiffany) have given up on torturing ourselves with high heels unless it’s for a special occasion so wedges are a great option to still dress things up a bit.
