Happy Monday, everyone! A little positivity for the start to the week…straight from the Dalai Lama. As you can probably tell from our posts here and on Instagram, being positive is something important to us both. Life is so much better when you focus on the positive and try to see the silver lining in any situation. Who wants to live life constantly lamenting over the little annoyances and challenges that happen to us?
While I generally try to make the best of everything in my life, I do struggle with pessimism and negative thoughts just like anyone else. I’ve found a few things that help me focus on being optimistic and positive:
– I try to surround myself with people who are also positive and encouraging. It’s pretty hard to stay upbeat when someone is telling you how horrible things are, but it’s easy when the people you’re around can laugh when they encounter challenges and try to look on the bright side. Attitude is contagious and I’d rather it be a positive one!
– Focusing on gratitude. I mentioned this in our post of the Five-Minute Journal, but consciously making an effort every morning and evening to focus on the things I’m grateful for and the amazing things that happened that day has changed my outlook!
– Remembering that I am in control of how I react to situations. From the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, “Happiness, like unhappiness, is a proactive choice. We can be happy and accept those things at present we can’t control, while we focus our efforts on things that we can.”
Hope you have an optimistic start to the week!
