I’ve had this Cat Stevens song stuck in my head many days recently thanks to a commercial. I am not even sure what brand the commercial is for, but the song stays in my head. The more I hear the song though, the more I like the message. “If you can find a new way, you can do it today.” I just love that. Especially now that we’re nearing the end of the year, there may be things that you’re thinking will just wait until January to start.
But what if you didn’t wait until then?
I’m already thinking about which of my goals may end up carrying over into next year. There’s less than two months left so what’s the point, right? Well, the point is that those goals were for me. I set them. For myself. Because I wanted to do them.
I could take some small steps now. Yes, the holidays are coming, but maybe that’s even more reason to get going. I still want to take better care of my health and regular exercise has been elusive to me this year. I did a better job last year (mostly because of our Fitness First series!) which somehow makes it feel worse. I can’t blame it on having young kids. I did it last year when they were younger. I even enjoyed it when it was a regular habit.
So, I’m going to schedule in some work outs. I may go back to Pure Barre or use the SoulCycle gift card one of my amazing friends gave me as I left my old company. Or, I may just get my butt downstairs to our treadmill in the basement. Whatever I do, I am going to remember that I’m making progress.
Is there something you’ve left hanging this year? What if you tried something small in these last few weeks of the year to try to make progress?
