Failure. Man, does this word have a lot of power. I absolutely hate failing at things.
In the past, I would do anything I could to prevent myself from failing. You know what that means? It means there are things I didn’t try or participate in because I didn’t want to look stupid or do them badly. Looking back, that’s honestly a bit depressing because I missed out! What if I could have been fantastic at those things with a little practice? What if I was bad at it, but just had fun anyway? Maybe I would have failed miserably the first few times, but lots of things in life require some hard work before you can get good at them. As I mentioned in my thoughts about Creativity, Inc., my goal for 2015 is to fail this year. That may sound funny, but I plan to try lots of new things and be open to new experiences which means failing along the way. Bring it on!
