I adore Amy Poehler and I love this quote from her book Yes Please. It’s such a great reminder to not wait for everything to fall into place before you do something. In my own life, I’ve recently been experiencing this with our Fitness First posts. Before we started those posts, I was not working out regularly and still very out of shape after having J. Trying out new fitness workouts and classes sounded like fun, but every time I was so nervous beforehand as I wasn’t sure I was ready. Would I be able to do it? Would I look stupid? Would I be the most out of shape person in the room? The thing is, if I had waited until I was “ready,” I would never have done any of those classes. Would I ever have said, yup, I’m ready to try out trapeze? Or barre class? Probably not. And some of the things we tried I realized I loved and really wanted to do again!
The same thing applies in all areas of life. Sometimes you just have to remind yourself to “fake it until you make it” and have a sense of humor about whatever the result is if it isn’t ideal. If you never push yourself, you’ll never do anything truly great with your life. And that’s no life at all in my opinion.
Is there something you’ve been waiting until you’re “ready” to do? I hope you take a step towards it today!
